Experts press for review Indus Basin Pact

Experts press for review Indus Basin Pact LAHORE: Experts have urged India and Pakistan to resolve all rows through the process of dialogue proposing that both countries should review Indus Basin Pact (IBP) thoroughly.

The speakers said this attending a seminar titled as “World Water Day” which was organized by Pakistan Engineering Congress (PEC).

Syed Jamat Ali Shah, the commissioner water, said Pakistan’s stance over the issue of water distribution is just and impartial and India will have to release the share of Pakistan’s water following IBP.

President PEC Hussnain Ahmed said that water scarcity in Pakistan is in worst ever condition and called for parliamentary discussion over the issue.

He claimed the only solution to water problem was construction of Kala Bagh Dam (KBD).

Engineers Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain, Usman Ghani, Dr. Asghar and Ali Nawaz Bhatta, on the occasion, proposed to launch a drive to evolve awareness for usage of water.
